Then came my favorite part where I add the crackle medium, which if you know me, is about the only finish I like doing as it's so darn forgiving. I removed the hardware and realized that should have been done first. Anyhoo, I mixed my hues of paint to this green color I didn't have to match the scrap paper.
I measured it all out to fit and put on with mod podge and I messed up and ended up having bubbles. I have not really learned the secret to perfect application. What seems to work best is to gob it on both sides of the paper and smooth it on like putting lotion on to your legs. Saturated paper seems to adhere best. By happenstance, I found a green spray paint in my coffers and used it for the drawers. My garage is filled with mist right now and I will see what happens tomorrow morning. This humidity will make the paint take hours to dry. The handles on the drawer were glued and I couldn't remove them and therefore I painted it all. I will go over the handle pieces with rub and buff antique finish and black paint to return the natural oxidization of the brass ware. Anyway, here it is!
9.00 for piece at goodwill
3.00 for mod podge
scrapbook pages (2) 49 cents a piece
paint I had on hand (free)
Awesome piece of awesomeness. Priceless!
