sentimental projects complete.

I am not doing any illustration this week so I took some personal time and finished up some sentimental projects. first, My husband gave me this amazing victorian doll house kit all of 10 years ago and I never put it together as we have been nomadic for all that time. I finally broke it out and put it together despite not having a little girl to give it to. Surprisingly, little boys find fun in those houses buy thinking thomas trains will enjoy it along with an oversized stuff bob the builder. It took alot more than a week, but I got the paint and the flooring and finishing touches. Now only to furnish. I have been looking all over creation to find victorian style kitchen and fixtures to put together. I didn't have any luck. So I cracked open a shadow boc I made a loooong time ago and put in the house.
The shadow box became my second project. I had a sweet little girl dog who was a huge part of my early adult life. She passed away 2 years ago and I had a tiny little shadow box featuring a picture and her leash. It broke. So, I am replacing the little memorial for her and putting her favorite chew toy, leash, collars, and i'd tags in it. I even found a toenail that was hers that I kept. Call me gross. But it makes me feel better that I still have a piece of her here with me. I miss her like crazy and it was difficult to put her things away in this little "coffin" of sorts. But now I can display her things and it makes me happy to see it done.
I also decided to upgrade my now almost 5 year old's name plaques. He is so into super heros, that I thought it would be cool to decopauge a poster of marvel super heros on his letters. It was a little bit of a pain. perhaps next time, I will use thicker letters. Matty enjoys them now and that is all that matters.
it feels great to finally be finished with these projects. I would like to add that the shadow box looks like a mess from the picture. However, that was how my life was when she was around. A big mess, but I wouldn't change it for anything and I really wanted to showcase that emotion.
