DIY Lyric painting spray drip method

I took a walk through Hobby Lobby the other day and wanted to spend hundreds of dollars on wall pieces that contained relevant words and thoughts. However, If I see another "live laugh love" again, I am going to flip out. Can't we come up with a different saying? I mean really?

Well, recently I went to an amazing concert where I saw my favorite singer/songwriter "Lee DeWyze". His lyrics from his album "Frames" are poignant and sweet. There was one particular song that he sang and wrote for his wife, "who would have known" that I absolutely love. A part of it says "Her heart is where I call my home". It's such a beautiful sentiment. Being that I want it for myself, I changed the lyric to "his" for the hubby and my two little boys.

For fun I am going to show you my process in making this piece. I used a technique that was rather messy but fun. The spray/drip method.

I started with a blank canvas and set down a trash bag and a grubby towel to contain the mess. I'd do this outside if possible. I did not, because I am a rebel.

I wet down my canvas and added some acrylic paint colors. Any type will do. I used black, blue and purple. I took my brush and spread it around. Then I sprayed water from a bottle to smear and drip. Do that and add more paint. Repeat over and over until your are happy.

I added another color and continued.

I let it dry over night and of course made sure the canvas was flat and smooth.

I have a handy little gadget that apparently, they don't sell anymore called the "Slice" It's a die cut machine that made the letters I'd need.
You can use a differnt machine or pre-cut letters or even paint them on yourself. However for sanity sake and assuring you like your end result, use pre cut letters. You can find them in any craft store in the scrapbook, paper craft section.

I used a Matte version of Mod Podge glue and just went to town laying down the letters and sealing it up with more Mod Podge. I added a little glitter. Glitter needs to be on everything. Just sayin'.

Waited another few hours and here it is. Now when I look at it, I can sing the song in my head and that is awesome.
