Baby shower cometh and gone.

So I am now recovering from the baby shower I had been planning for at least 8 months. The goal was to handmake
everything. I had to anyway, because shopping for baby shower decorations is pretty bland now days. If the mom chooses a theme, you really had to get creative. My friend, Jennifer wanted a paris theme. So I did a little research on common patterns used and went from there. Poka dots in pink and black with a few other textures and patterns pulled it all together. Thankfully, you can find poka dots and lucky for me, the paris theme style is alive and well in art stores.

I sewed table runners out of quilt fabric squares to pull the room together and add a softness to the tables other thank plastic pink table cloths. One stack was more than enough to complete 3 runners.
The candles were never lit, but with some paper and paper trimmer, I could seriously embellish the candles to look fanciful and certainly match with the decor I had in mind. I found some old dessert glasses from a thrift store to add a bit of elegence.
The hat boxes were simple. They worked a double duty here. They were decopaged and placed together for visual effect, but can be used later for baby's room storage.
The banner was easy, but I treated myself to a paper cutting machine that did all that work for me. I am in love with it. The Slice is a great product because it's small and easy and simple. I've owned a cricut before, and even though it's a great machine, I was usually more frustrated with it's complicated directions and wasted paper. The Slice, made all this possible.
